New Murphy law to help shield families near O’Hare from increasing noise pollution

SPRINGFIELD – A new law led by State Senator Laura Murphy will help families near O’Hare Airport deal with noise pollution was signed into law by Governor Pritzker.

“I continually hear from residents about the need to expand the sound insulation program.  As runways have shifted many find their homes in a very different flight pattern,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “Through this law, we ensure the program stays updated to provide eligible households assistance from increased noise as a result of O’Hare’s modernization program.”

Murphy encourages park districts to apply for IDNR grants

DES PLAINES – State Senator Laura Murphy is urging park districts in the 28th District to apply for Open Space Land Acquisition Grants through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

“Our park districts work around the clock to provide activities and maintain green spaces for our community,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “These grants are a critical opportunity for park districts to receive support in their work to fuel recreation and opportunity in the 28th District.”

Over $520,000 coming to 28th District libraries thanks to Murphy support

DES PLAINES – State Senator Laura Murphy announced ten public libraries and school districts across the 28^th District are set to receive more than $520,000 for library services, enhanced programming and construction and security upgrades.

“Strong libraries keep our communities vibrant, our minds open and provide essential opportunities for people to learn,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “I am committed to prioritizing support for libraries and equipping them with the resources that keep them a hub for learning and communal events.”

Murphy to host blood drive event in 28th District

DES PLAINES – To help limit blood shortages in hospitals, and ensure patients can receive blood transfusions, State Senator Laura Murphy is partnering with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois for a community blood drive event.

“Donating blood is one of the easiest ways we can support those in our community in desperate need of care,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “I encourage all those who are able to participate and help ensure care providers have the necessary supply to provide life-saving blood transfusions.”
